The tectonic plates of our planet are constantly moving and will develop holding and tension at places of intersection. At these intersections, the land above will display characteristic signs of this holding as hills and mountains develop and fault lines form along the greatest areas of stress. Eventually as this physical stress becomes too great, the plates slip and the earth shakes with tremors. Just like in so many things the human body is part of and resembles this earthly process. The repetitive motions of our daily work and life stresses can cause holding patterns in the myofascial tissue that lies beneath our skin layers and envelops all of our muscles and organs. These holding patterns will gradually grow into adhesions and the charistic “knots” we feel in our muscles. And just like in tectonic plate theory, when the stressors become too great, pain develops and injuries can occur.
I’m an experienced Massage Therapist & Yoga teacher in Portland, OR and a firm believer in taking a holistic approach to healing. In most cases, by working with and following the topography of your tissue, I can identify these myofascial holding patterns and follow the paths needed to relieve the physical stresses that are present through soft tissue manipulation. With a variety of modalities to access during a session including Relaxation, Craniosacral, Myofascial, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Structural Balance, and Thai Massage; we can tailor a session as individual as you are and address your specific needs. I also have studied Trauma Informed Work with the teachings of Tias Little and Peter Levine and will bring these teachings into play for a more relaxing and informed experience.
Through my practice, I strive to assist clients in releasing soft tissue holding patterns and promote well-being and spaciousness in order to reduce emotional and mental stress, assisting to keep the mind, body and spirit healthy.
